A life long New Yorker, Paul got his first movie camera at the age of 7. It was an old Kodak Instamatic Super 8 camera he found in the back of a closet, while hiding from his older brother. It was love at first sight and though there was no film in it, he would run around for hours "making" movies. It wouldn't be till many years later that he finally got a camera with some film in it and was able to put his well-developed sense of framing to use.
After studying Cinematography at New York University, Paul got his first break in the film industry while living for a year in Australia, working as a lighting technician on commercials and features. He has since worked with and learned from some of the most talented cinematographers in the business, including Darius Khondji (Se7en, The Interpreter), Jim Denault (Boys Don't Cry, Maria Full of Grace), and Frederick Elmes (Blue Velvet, The Ice Storm).
As a Director of Photography, Paul has shot over 50 projects and his work has appeared on network television and in film festivals around the world. His credits include the critically acclaimed short film "They're Made Out of Meat", (Grand Prize winner- Sci-Fi Short Film Festival, Best Short Film- Fantastic Fest Austin), "Dear Barbra" (Grand Prize Winner- MTV Director's Cut Film Fest) and "Faith Works" a documentary aired nationally on ABC TV.
After over 6 years as a DP, Paul has shot everything from music videos and commercials to documentaries and narratives. He continues to live and work in NYC, along with his wife Maggie, dog Jake and his many cameras. All of which have film in them...
